Explorer Trail[]
The Explorer Trail is a sub-game that is available from the Hero Precinct. It is used to unravel the story of the game. In this mode, a squad of heroes fight zombies and search for loot.
The Explorer Trail uses a system for stamina, Squad Stamina, which is separate from the system used to fight in the Wilderness. It replenishes at the rate of 6 points/hour until it reaches 100. When collecting Final Hope Stamina Supplies, 40 points are added to the Squad Stamina, even above 100.
There are 12 trails, each consisting of 12 challenges. Challenges 3, 6, 9, and 12 can be run as many times as desired. The other ones are only available until the player has succeeded with them once.
Trail Challenges[]
Midway through their hunt for supplies, Becca and Sarge found the tattered lab report. It bears the log of GigaCorp and a familiar signature. They decided to take it back to Dr. Yamazaki and see what might come of it.

Dr. Yamazaki recognized Hoffman's signature. Seeing Becca's excited face, Dr Yamazaki decided to find out the truth rather than jumping to any conclusions, even though he suspected something was fishy.
| ||||||||
Becca and Dr. Yamazaki had a discussion and felt it was worth looking deeper. Maybe this clue can help them find more information about Hoffman. They decided to set out again to explore other abandoned buildings that resembled labs..
| ||||||||
Sarge and Maddie brought back some lab reports similar to the previous one, and found several key words on them: embryonic engineering, Helixr Lab. Some of these also have Hoffman's signature on them, some don't/ Things are at a standstill again, and the squad needs more information.
| ||||||||
Becca remembered that her dad had been obsessed with his research, but those words made her feel uneasy. She wanted to find the truth, to find the real reason for Hoffman's disappearance.
| ||||||||
The squad found a long-abandoned test tube and decided to take it back to the Final Hope and send it in for testing. Becca noticed the "** Extraction Solution" label printed on it and hoped that this clue could be a breakthrough.
| ||||||||
While waiting for the test results, Sarge and Maddie comforted Becca. Becca silently thanked these friends in her heart, and decided that no matter what kind of conclusions they came to, she would face it rationally.

The lab results are in! Although most of the extract had been inactivated due to being left in the harsh environment for too long. Dr. Yamazaki found that its from was extremely similar to research he had done before. Hoffman's research might indeed be related to infectious diseases.
| ||||||
To find out the truth, Sarge decided to return to the GigaCorp lab where Dr. Yamazaki had worked and search for the research report. Despite the hazard of the infected, the squad found the report in an inconspicuous corner. Thankfully, GigaCorp hadn't destroyed it yet.
| ||||||
A comparison of the newly found research report with the previous lab report showed that the two did have a high degree of similarity.
| ||||||
The results were confusing. They didn't understand why the Helixr Lab would be connected to infectious disease research. That's when they received a warning from Kline, discouraging them from investigation further.
| ||||||
Becca's instincts told her that there must be a connection between this and Hoffman. She decided to infiltrate the Helixr Lab to find out the truth about him. In the process, Becca discovered that Emily was also involved in the matter. At that time Becca did not know what kind of bond they might share...
